The story of a champion ❄️ Here is Vanessa's story: "Sport has always been my passion! I started competitive sport at a very young age and managed to make a career out of it. Working in sports management was a dream come true for me! Over time, I felt like I was missing something. I loved what I was doing, I had a good salary and good benefits, but I felt less and less on my X. I needed a new professional challenge and at the same time I wanted to be more present in my children's lives. In 2017, I resigned to start my own business. Since movement is still at the heart of my life, I used this passion to create a business that promotes physical activity with Gym FIT and yoga classes. This decision brought me a lot of fears and questioning. I even went back to university to do a certificate in business management during my third pregnancy. Today, I am 40 years old, a mother of 3 children and I can say that I am finally on my X. My work schedule is atypical, but it allows me to be present in the important moments in my children's lives. My challenge is to maintain a balance between my professional ambitions and quality time with my family. So I have developed the habit, when I have to make choices, of asking myself if what I am doing at the moment supports the life I want. To achieve this, I had to take several paths that were not always easy to get there. Having ADD and learning difficulties, I often questioned my path and whether I had the real abilities to be able to achieve my dream. I saw that my friends had an easy time at school. I asked myself why I can't be like them. With a lot of perseverance and support from my parents, my friends and especially my teachers who worked extremely hard to help me succeed from elementary school to my university in a few months, I am very grateful today to have been able to work with them. Without these people, mini Amélie would never have thought she would get this far. I am very proud of myself. My efforts have paid off. I can finally say that I will become a teacher in a few months. That's why I want to do this job. I want to make a difference in the lives of young people like they did in mine. I started with short distances, 2 to 3 km with walking breaks, I must say that I am a former smoker. Then I ran a little longer each time, eventually running 10 to 12 km several times a week. I never felt the need to do an official race. Due to lack of time, motivation and above all, I told myself that I didn't need it, that I wasn't in competition with anyone and that I knew my running speed. I didn't feel like planning and scheduling an official race. However, I always told myself that I had to try it one day. So I signed up for an official race as soon as they resumed after the pandemic. Surprisingly, an official race has nothing to do with a regular outing. The excitement and feverishness are at their peak at the starting line. Being in his intense bubble, a bubble that I savored from beginning to end. Controlling my thoughts and my little aches and pains, mental and physical, throughout the journey. It's seeing the finish line and accelerating even if you think you can't go any faster. In reality, it is not a competition with others but rather a competition with oneself. It's about seeing how far we can push our machine. I completed my half marathon under my target time and by a long way. I was the first to be surprised. I will definitely do it again, I really got the bug.
